The word gnosis mean to know. gnosticism was a philosophical system that was built on greek philosophy. they try to promote a spereation between the materialistic and the spiritual world. this connect back to matrix and the allegory of the cave because in the matrix there was two different worlds that they were in the virtual world and the real world. and in allegory of the cave there was the world where plato was trying to enlighten human with philosophy.
